The Dutch Centre for Health Assets (DuCHA) is part of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO (www.tno.nl) range of expertise centres. Yet, as the successor to the Netherlands Board for Healthcare Institutions (Bouwcollege), DuCHA can call upon the wealth of knowledge and experience in planning and design for the healthcare sector that the Bouwcollege has amassed in its 35-year history. In recent years, DuCHA and its predecessor have been active in developing innovative approaches to hospital design and planning (the “Core Hospital”, the “Layers Approach”), life-cycle economics, and real estate management in the healthcare sector.
